Neues Deutschland (2014) \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\treports on ongoing pogroms and incitement against Rroma in Halle. In the recent \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tmonths, repeated assaults against Rroma occurred in the quarter of Silberh\u00f6he. \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tMoreover, xenophobic Facebook groups called for violence against the minority. Silberh\u00f6he \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tis a poor district, which is characterised by industrialised apartment blocks: \u201cThe attackers were between 10 and 13 years \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\told. In mid-September, a young Roma woman and her two-year old son were \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tattacked by adolescents in Silberh\u00f6he, an industrialised building quarter in \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tHalle.<\/em> […] The instigators however, \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tare adults. They operate Internet sites such as \u201challemax.de\u201d, where in hard \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\ttone and partly with multiple entries a day, one speaks about \u201calienation\u201d and \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tagainst Rroma.<\/em> […] The focus of their \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\taggression is a group of 40 families, belonging to the Roma minority, who \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\timmigrated from Romania and Spain \u2013 in the context of the EU-wide freedom of \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tmovement. From the beginning, the newcomers were faced with dislike, aggression \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tand hatred. Especially the children reported bullying on the street or in the \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tsupermarket, the mobile victim counselling of Halle states. Later, a so-called \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\u201cvigilante group\u201d was founded, who was supposed to ensure \u201cpeace and order\u201d \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\twith patrols in Silberh\u00f6he.\u201d<\/em> In response to the xenophobic actions, a group \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tagainst anti-Semitism was founded. The alliance \u201cHall against right-wing \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\textremism\u201d organised counter-demonstrations to the hostile actions against \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tRroma, in order to express their solidarity with the minority and to stand up \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tagainst anti-Semitism. In addition, a meeting was organised to counter the \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tprejudices against immigrants with facts and\u00a0 knowledge. In Germany, there are an estimated 110,000 to \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t130,000 Rroma, many of them for generations. They are integrated, go to work, \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tspeak German and send their children to school.<\/p>\n
