A primary school teacher \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tfrom Ennepetal calls for the integration of immigrated Rroma families. He \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tdemands that the immigrant families be accepted and supported in their \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tintegration efforts, with special regard to the future of their children. The \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tprimary school teacher Folkert K\u00f6ppe therefore decidedly speaks against a \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tpolicy of expulsion, as the owner of the houses in which the families are \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tcurrently located, intends to do. He announced a few weeks ago to terminate the \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tlease of all families, although temporary leases have no legal basis in \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tGermany. Folkert K\u00f6ppe states: \u201cGiven the \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tdubious behaviour of the owner of those dilapidated houses in the Hagenerstrasse, \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\twhere the Roma currently live, it is time to address the children\u2019s situation. \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tThey are the real victims of the current conflict, because a shift from here to \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tanother city would mean a new change of school for them. Here in Ennepetal, \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tspecial collection classes have been established for these children, within \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\twhich I am working as a teacher. And as such, I say in all determination: the \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tRoma must stay! Because already now, some of them show significant academic \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tdeficits, caused by frequent changes of residency and thus of schooling. The exhaustive \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tlessons show signs of success; the children are happy in school and we educators \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tare gradually finding \u201cthe right turn\u201d, to equip them with the basic knowledge \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\timportant for their future. All this would be abruptly terminated by a \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tdeparture, and the children would have to start all over again elsewhere\u201d <\/em>(K\u00f6ppe \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t2014). According to estimates of the Rroma Foundation In Germany, an estimated \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t110,000 to 130,000 Rroma. Before the genocide by the Nazis, there were many \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tmore. Many have been living for generations in Germany, speak fluently German, go \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tto work, and send their children to school. They are the living proof that \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tintegration is possible.<\/p>\n
