Sark\u00f6zi has won several awards for his \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tcommitment to the Rroma: <em style=\"font-family: Arial;\">\u201cAlmost to the \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tday 70 years ago, Rudolf Sark\u00f6zi was born in the Nazi detention camp in Lackenbach \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t(district Oberpullendorf).<\/em> <em style=\"font-family: Arial;\">Of the \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tapproximately 4,000 imprisoned Roma and Sinti in Lackenbach, only a few hundred \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tsurvived the Holocaust \u2013 one of them was Sark\u00f6zi.<\/em> <em style=\"font-family: Arial;\">On Saturday, at the memorial in Lackenbach, one was commemorating the \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tpeople murdered by the Nazis.<\/em> <em style=\"font-family: Arial;\">Gymnasium \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tstudents of Oberpullendorf and young Roma and Sinti co-created the celebration \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\twith touching speeches<\/em>. <em style=\"font-family: Arial;\">Sark\u00f6zi, \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tchairman of Austrian Roma, found clear words:<\/em> <em style=\"font-family: Arial;\">\u201cI hope that the young in the group can say one day that we are not \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tdisadvantaged.\u201d At the memorial event, Governor Hans Niessl (SP\u00d6) and regional \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tvice Franz Steindl (\u00d6VP) presented Professor Sark\u00f6zi one of the highest awards \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tin Burgenland: the Commander&#8217;s Cross. \u201cThe fact that Roma and Sinti today have \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tequal rights as other ethnic groups would not have been possible without the commitment \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tof Rudolf Sark\u00f6zi\u201d, said the governor\u201d<\/em> (Kurier 2014, compare Salzburg24 \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t2014).<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Kurier (2014) \u201eIch \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\thab\u2019 mich nie geniert Roma zu sein\u201c In: <em style=\"font-family: Arial;\">Kurier \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tonline <\/em>vom 16.11.2014. <a href=\"http:\/\/kurier.at\/chronik\/burgenland\/portraet-ich-hab-mich-nie-geniert-roma-zu-sein\/97.374.952\" style=\"font-family: Arial;\">http:\/\/kurier.at\/chronik\/burgenland\/portraet-ich-hab-mich-nie-geniert-roma-zu-sein\/97.374.952<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Salzburg24 (2014) Gedenken \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tan Roma und Sinti im Burgenland.
