Milan Jaeger interviewed the social worker \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tSonia B\u00f6ttcher in Frankfurt and quizzed here on her work and on Rroma \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tgenerally.\u00a0 She stresses that there \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tare common and long lasting prejudices against Rroma that portrays them as \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tpoor, uneducated, dirty, etc. She states that while there are certainly Rroma \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\twho fit the picture, the majority of the population is certainly not like this.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the S\u00fcddeutsche Zeitung interviewed \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tAndreas Zick, a researcher from the IKG, Institute for the interdisciplinary \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tresearch on\u00a0 conflict and violence \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tof the University of Bielerfeld on the fears of the general population in the \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tface of a perceived increased number of asylum seekers in Germany. This in \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tspite of the fact that Germany is not really taking more refugees in proportion \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tto its population as compared to neighbouring countries.<\/p>\n

The NZZ reports on the march of the Pegida and \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\ttheir fear of foreigners, refugees and other migrants. One of the main often \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tunmentioned fears are the potential hordes of Rroma who may invade Germany to \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tbenefit from a liberal social system. That these hordes never materialised in \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tthe years since all EU citizen are free to move and settle in all Eu Countries \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tis never actually stated. There are very few Rroma, according to all official \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tstatistics who settled in Western Europe following the free travel agreements \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tin the EU.<\/p>\n
