Barret (2014) reports on \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tthe fate of around 60 Rroma, a third of them children, who are being hunted by \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tthe police through the streets of Marseille since the eviction of the informal \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tsettlement of Plombi\u00e8res on July the 24th. As soon as they have settled in one \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tplace, they are already again disturbed by the police forces. The homeless demand \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\ta break from the governmental persecution. Aid agencies criticise that many of \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tthose affected are totally exhausted. The organization Arte Chavalo<\/em> asks for a temporary moratorium of the police evictions \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tuntil an appropriate site for the accommodation of the 60 persons is found: \u201c\u201cNot a single day goes by without the \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tpolice coming and expelling them from a small piece of land, where they have \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tsat down. Day and night they are hunted and the police have been ordered to not \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tgive them any rest until they have left the city\u201d, the activist of Arte Chavalo \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\texplains about the families that each morning get evicted from another car park \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tand another place nearby the Boulevard de Plombi\u00e8res. \u201cWe condemn the \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tdiscriminatory policy which is waged against them and which causes serious \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\trisks and disturbances to the public order for the population as a whole, of \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\twhich children and innocent people are affected\u201d\u201d<\/em> (Journal La Marseillaise \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t2014). The municipality of Marseille is required to end this senseless hunt and \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tto provide the displaced families with reasonable accommodation in order to \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tenable the aid agencies to resume their work, it is stated (compare Vinzent \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t2014).<\/p>\n
