Bracher \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t(2013) in her article presents a shocking picture of humiliated, exploited \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\twomen to be reintegrated back into Hungarian society by the Hungarian Baptist \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tAid Charity after their exit from prostitution. Two-thirds of them were Rroma. \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tThe women were all victims of pimps – often their own brothers, uncles or \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tfriends – who threatened them with violence or already applied it and under \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\twhose influence they mostly still stood. The interviews were all done by \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tBracher in the presence of a member of the charity and favour a victim\u2019s \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tperspective with a \u201cLoverboy\u201d havin pushed the women into prostitution. It is says \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tfor example: \u201cWith 24 Valeria met a man \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\twho promised her an income opportunity in Budapest. Whether she then knew then that \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tit was about prostitution? She denies it, perhaps out of shame. When she learns \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tin Budapest what is expected of her, she wants to go home. But the man \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tthreatened her that he will kill her grandmother. […] Onlyl last February \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tKatalin did return from Zurich. Her then boyfriend took her to Zurich and told \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\ther there that he had sold her to a pimp. He brought her in a hotel where she \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\twas coerced into prostitution.\u201d<\/em> Without any intention to playing down \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tforced prostitution, a question arises due to the discrepancy between Bracher’s \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\trepresentations and the opinions of women and prostitutes\u00a0organisations\u00a0 These \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tpaint a different picture that does not correspond to the exploitation of Rroma \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tby Rroma. The prostitutes\u00a0organisations\u00a0Dona Carmen (2013 ), Hyra (2013) and \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tthe Zurich Institute against the trafficking of women and women migration (2013) \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tdescribe forced prostitution as a marginal phenomenon that constitutes the \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\texception, not the rule. Rather, the economic misery is the cause for \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tprostitution, usually voluntary. Poverty is therefore what needs to be \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\taddressed, not the prostitution itself. Moreover, one should not only always speak \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tabout, but one must also discuss with the prostitutes: \u201cIt is not a great job. It is a tough job. But it annoys us when sex \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tworkers are always portrayed as victims. They are not. Many of them are strong, \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\twise women who make a living and that of their families and are small \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tentrepreneurs. They are victims only because of the stigma of sex work\u201d<\/em> (Boos \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t2013). Here, however, great caution should be exercised before playing down \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tforced prostitution. Dona Carmen (2013) refers in its presentation on police \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tstatistics on declining, even almost non-existent cases of human trafficking in \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tGermany. The reliability of these statistics is to be doubted, as the \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tidentification of human trafficking is far from clear and simple. The same goes \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tfor the other side, the one claiming that each case of prostitution is the \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tresult of trafficking. To describe the exploitation of Rroma by Rroma as \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tstandard case is to be decidedly\u00a0questioned. It corresponds to the Weltwoche \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tview that sees Rroma society as a hierarchically\u00a0organised\u00a0clan structure.<\/p>\n
