After a series of \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tbreak-ins, a mob of angry citizens formed which made Rroma responsible for the \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tburglaries and invaded the local Rroma settlements. Several homes were \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tdestroyed. Fortunately, nobody was injured: <em style=\"font-family: Arial;\">\u201cThe \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tprotesters blamed the members of the minority for an increase in crime in the \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tvillage of the province of Seville. According to media reports from Sunday, they \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tattacked five Roma houses and put two of them on fire. In the incident from \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tSaturday, no people were injured. The illegal rally had been organized on the \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tsocial networks. The municipality of Estepa had stated the day before that the \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tnumber of burglaries has increased dramatically in this town of 12,000 \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tinhabitants. They convened an emergency meeting and announced a strengthening \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tof the police forces.\u201d<\/em> The pogroms are symptomatic for failed European \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tsocial policies that do not succeed in effectively addressing the social and \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\teconomic inequalities. Instead, racist slogans that blame marginalised groups \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tsuch as the Rroma as scapegoats for all ills, find approval among more and more \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tpeople. A very worrying development that has been confirmed by the recent \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tEuropean elections, in which the right-wing populists gained massively in vote \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tshares in all European countries.
