Contrary to the dire predictions Thomas draws a positive picture: the \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tlocal authorities have adjusted to the immigration and support migrants in \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\ttheir integration efforts. Public schools have increased courses for English as \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\ta foreign language and the social institutions work closely with the local \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tauthorities. Nevertheless there are tensions because not all residents react to \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tthe rapid social change of the last years in the same way. Thomas summarizes: <em style=\"font-family: Arial;\">\u201eNow there are around 2,000 Romanians in \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tGreater Manchester. A lot has changed, but the change has been managed and \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tunlike in Sheffield where senior politicians warned of serious unrest, there \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\thas been no similar talk here. Professor Yaron Matras, who leads the Romani \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tproject at the University of Manchester, worked alongside the city council, Greater \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tManchester Police, social business the Big Life Company and education officials \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tto put a Roma Strategy in place.\u201c<\/em> Through this project the integration of \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tthe immigrants into the educational institutions and the labour market has \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tsignificantly improved (compare Manchester City Council 2014) .<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Manchester City Council (2014) Rroma Stragety \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t2011\u20132014.
