{"id":1624,"date":"2013-10-18T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2013-10-18T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/%20rroma.org\/18-10-2013-rroma-in-the-czech-republic\/"},"modified":"2022-07-26T13:50:57","modified_gmt":"2022-07-26T12:50:57","slug":"18-10-2013-rroma-in-the-czech-republic","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rroma.org\/de\/18-10-2013-rroma-in-the-czech-republic\/","title":{"rendered":"18.10.2013 Rroma in the Czech Republic"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Kostl\u00e1n\/Genderkinger (2013) spoke with Miroslav Bro\u017e of the \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tNGO \u201cKonexe\u201d which fights for the rights of the Rroma in the Czech Republic. \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tBro\u017e paints a grim picture of widespread and even institutionalized racism \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tagainst Rroma through all strata of the population. It is particularly worrying \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tthat the pogroms currently occurring are no longer only organised by neo-Nazis \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tbut increasingly also by \u201cnormal\u201d citizens, especially young people. Between \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tthe angry citizens and the Rroma there is often the police, and one cannot \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tassume that it will always in the future ensure the protection of the Rroma: <em style=\"font-family: Arial;\">\u201cSo far, the police could protect the Rroma. \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tLately I became more aware that we must finally always trust in the police. We \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tcount on them guarding our backs, to protects us. During many demonstrations \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tagainst Rroma, only the counterinsurgency units stood between the aggressive mob \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tand the Rroma families. I do not think that they will continue to keep the mob \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tunder control. The demonstrations against Rroma are getting more brutal, more \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tnumerous and larger.\u201d<\/em> \u00a0The Czech \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tRepublic has massively expanded their monitoring by the widespread installation \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tof cameras in Rroma ghettos and so automatically put them under suspicion.
