Numerous French newspapers \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\treport on the fire in Rroma camp in Montgeron. The fire broke out in the night \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tfrom 16th to the 17th of March. About half the dwellings were destroyed by the \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tfire. Fortunately, nobody of the approximately 140 residents, including 50 \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tchildren, was hurt. The residents of the camp were relocated to a nearby gym. A \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tplanned eviction of the camp was scheduled for the end of March 2014. Rroma shanty-settlements \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tare regularly the scene of incidents such as fires. However, there is disagreement \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tover the question as to whether the fires are indeed the result of insufficient \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tsafety precautions, as repeatedly emphasized by the authorities, or whether \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tpolitical intentions and therefore arson are behind it (20 minutes in 2014, Le \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tParisien 2014 Le R\u00e9publicain 2014).<\/p>\n
