Most of the  \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tdwellings of the thirty residents were destroyed or rendered uninhabitable: \u00a0<em style=\"font-family: Arial;\">\u201cThe  \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tfire broke out in the Rroma camp behind the BUT store at around 15 o\u2019clock,  \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tnear the G\u00e9rard Philippe high school. The residents of the camp and the  \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tstudents who were present at the site were quickly evacuated. Firefighters  \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tbelieve explosions of gas bottles in the barracks caused the fire. Several of  \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tthem in fact exploded but the firefighters were able to cope with the flames.\u201d<\/em> Two men were slightly injured. The residents of the camp were housed in tents  \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tby the city council of Fontaine (see Le Dauphin\u00e9 2014). \u2013 The safety  \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tdeficiencies in illegal settlements are the subject of repeated political  \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tdisputes. While certain politicians interpret these as a justification for  \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\trigorous evictions, others see them as evidence for the need to better supply  \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tthe camps with water, electricity and sanitation, rendering improvised  \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tinstallations unnecessary, installations which indeed show security flaws.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Le Dauphin\u00e9 (2014) Fontaine: violent incendie dans  \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tun camp de Roms.
