{"id":1696,"date":"2012-12-21T01:00:00","date_gmt":"2012-12-21T01:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/%20rroma.org\/21-12-2012-forced-return-of-rroma-in-kosovo\/"},"modified":"2022-08-05T09:26:45","modified_gmt":"2022-08-05T08:26:45","slug":"21-12-2012-forced-return-of-rroma-in-kosovo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rroma.org\/de\/21-12-2012-forced-return-of-rroma-in-kosovo\/","title":{"rendered":"21.12.2012 Forced Return of Rroma in Kosovo"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><strong>Forced return of Rroma to  \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tthe Kosovo<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The \u2018Society for Threatened Peoples\u2019  \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\telaborates and criticizes the practice of the Swiss Department of Migration for  \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tforcing Rroma back to Kosovo, even though their successful reintegration into  \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tthe Kosovo society is not certain. They state that between 2010 and November  \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t2012 661 persons belonging to an ethnic minority have been forced to return to  \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tthe Kosovo. Despite the \u201cMemorandum of Understanding\u201d signed between the Kosovo  \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tand Switzerland in the beginning of 2012, which should assure favorable  \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tconditions for members of minorities as civil registration, access to education  \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tand protection from discrimination, the situation of Rroma in the Kosovo has  \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tnot improved. The report states that discrimination against Rroma, Ashkali and  \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tBalkan Egyptians is ongoing and people belonging to this groups face everyday victimization  \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tin working, education, mobility, use of their language and access to public  \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tservices. According to the report, between 73-84% of Rroma, Ashkali and Balkan  \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tEgyptians in the Kosovo are currently unemployed. <\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Because of these shortcomings, the report  \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tcriticizes and strongly advises against the forced return of Rroma to Kosovo.  \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tThe RCP appreciates the objective, critical assessment of the \u2018Society for  \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tThreatened Peoples\u2019 and takes sides with its demand. Especially the forced  \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\treturn of entire families, with children who attended Swiss schools, has to be  \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\theavily criticized.
