Sch\u00e4fer (2014) reports \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\ton the plans of the German federal government to declare the Serbia, Macedonia \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tand Bosnia-Herzegovina \u201csafe countries of origin\u201d. As a result of this, asylum \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tapplications from these countries can be processed more quickly in the future. \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tThe letter of the German federal ministry of the interior states: \u201cthat in all these countries ( … ) neither \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tpolitical persecution nor torture or inhuman or degrading treatment takes place \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tand no threat by reason of indiscriminate violence in situations of international \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tor internal armed conflict.\u201d <\/em>Left-wing politicians like Ulla Jelpke demanded \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tthe deputies of the federal states to withhold the authorization for this \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tpolicy. The new policy is said to primarily affect Rroma: \u201cAs a matter of fact, \u201c90 percent of these people are Rroma, who are \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tfleeing systematic discrimination and hazardous exclusion and poverty.\u201d<\/em> In the countries concerned, Rroma are \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\texposed to \u201cmultiple forms of discrimination, taken together they certainly \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tjustify refugee protection\u201d. But this protection\u00a0 \u201cis sacrificed on the altar of a populist debate\u201d, said \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tJelpke.\u201d <\/em>While proponents of deportation rely on country analyses that \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tstate none or only very minimal discrimination against minorities in countries \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tlike Serbia, Macedonia or Bosnia-Herzegovina, proponents of the asylum seekers state \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tthe exact opposite. Subjective experiences, which can rarely be proved with \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tdocuments, usually are dismissed in comparison to the official analyses that \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tassess the social situation in a country. Bernd Mesovic from Pro Asly<\/em> criticises that restrictive \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tasylum practices are already in place now and serious examinations of the \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\treasons for flight are not applied (compare \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tTiroler Tageszeitung Online 2014, Die Welt 2014, Zeit 2014).<\/p>\n
