{"id":2629,"date":"2015-05-17T17:36:35","date_gmt":"2015-05-17T16:36:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/rroma.org\/?p=2629"},"modified":"2022-08-08T11:26:51","modified_gmt":"2022-08-08T10:26:51","slug":"roma-hungarian-researcher-denied-boarding-to-toronto","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rroma.org\/de\/roma-hungarian-researcher-denied-boarding-to-toronto\/","title":{"rendered":"Roma Hungarian Researcher denied boarding to Toronto"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Austrian Airlines, Austrian airport officials, and the CIC (Citizenship, Immigration, and Canada) banned a Rroma researcher from Hungary to board a plane to Toronto where she was scheduled to do research on fellow Hungarian Rroma who migrated to Canada recently, this in spite of having a valid EU passport, 1\u2019000 dollars, and a return ticket.<\/p>\n<p>This seems to be a consequence of several airlines being fined by Canada following them transporting Rroma who later asked for asylum or for immigration to that country. In any case, there is a presumption of innocence, and the researcher\u2019s rights were clearly flouted in a bout of racial profiling.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Canadian authorities ban Hungarian Roma researcher from boarding flight to Toronto.
