Pester Lloyd (2014) \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\treports on the latest speech of the Hungarian prime minister Viktor Orb\u00e1n in \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tfront of the Hungarian ambassadors in Budapest: In his speech, Orb\u00e1n told that, \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tin the last EU-meeting in Ypres, he pushed the idea that migration in Europe is \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tfundamentally \u201cwrong\u201d and should be \u201cabolished\u201d: \u201cThe objective is to stop immigration completely\u201d, because the \u201ccurrent \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tliberal […] immigration policy, which is justified as morally and presented as \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tinevitable, is hypocritical.\u201d […] These policies, as well as Orb\u00e1n\u2019s \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tstatements, are based on an ethnically exclusionary, therefore ethnic-oriented \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\u201cpolicy of nations”, as it is enshrined in the new constitution of the \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tcountry, which the Fidesz introduced on its own. In it, ethnic Hungarians at \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\thome and abroad are classified as nation-building, the 13 recognized ethnic and \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tnational minorities however only as state-building; desired and tolerated \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tpeople.\u201d<\/em> In this racist, ethno-nationalist policy of the Magyardom, Rroma \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\ttake the role of unpleasant but tolerated workers that are supposed to carry \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tout the jobs of unskilled immigrants: \u201cEurope\u2019s \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t10 million Roma could exercise the unskilled activities which today are mainly done \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tby immigrants.\u201d<\/em> Orb\u00e1n therefore ascribes the Rroma of \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tEurope to be a bunch of uneducated day labourers, who must be kept busy by \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\temployment programs and shall undertake underpaid jobs such cleaning work. That \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\the therewith denies a majority of integrated Rroma their existence, many of whom \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\thave good educational qualifications, and defames them, he seems to be \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tindifferent to. The Rroma-network Romano \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tLiloro<\/em> consequently condemned Orb\u00e1n\u2019s statements strongly. What is needed are \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tnot employment programs that keep people in poverty, but educational \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\topportunities that enable them a better future, the network states (compare Feher \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t2014, Gulyas 2014).<\/p>\n
