The Mitteldeutsche Rundfunk (MDR) (2014) reports on the planned \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\testablishment of a militia in the neighbourhood of Silberh\u00f6he in Halle. The \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tinitiative for this self-organised monitoring in urban area is due to the \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tinflux of Rroma immigrants. However, the police did not detect any rise in \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tcriminal activities since the arrival of the Rroma. The concerns from alarmed \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tresidents are therefore primarily based on prejudices against the people \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tunknown to them: \u201cThe language barrier is \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tone of the basic problems. Not only that the Sinti and Roma bring another \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tculture: communication, an approach to each other seems not possible. One local \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tresident at least describes it like this. This lack of understanding often \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tevolves into rejection and prejudice. Many local residents, young and old, feel \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tthreatened. Nevertheless, opinions are split among the local residents as whether \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\ta militia must really be started. While some advocate it outright, others \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tdemand that in case of offenses, the police should act. The police officers think \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tpoorly of a militia. This would not solve the problems in the district, but \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\trather enhance them.\u201d <\/em>In this article, in spite of the will to be differentiated, \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\ta one-sided notion of the minority in Germany arises. Rroma in the country \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tconsist not only of recently immigrated people, but also from those who live in \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tGermany since generations. An estimated 110,000 to 130,000 Rroma live today in the \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tGerman Federal Republic. Before the genocide through the Nazis, there were much \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tmore. Most of them speak perfectly German and have a job. These Rroma are \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\ttotally ignored by the residents in their delusions, when they request a militia \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tagainst the immigrants. Silberh\u00f6he was also the place of an incident between a \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tyoung Rromni with her baby and a group of children and adolescents who attacked \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tand insulted the mother and the child. The police is investigating for assault \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tand demagoguery. That the perpetrators were children and adolescents is \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tparticularly disconcerting (compare \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tMitteldeutsche Zeitung 2014 I\/II).<\/p>\n
