The two \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tperpetrators are accused of having broken into a rental apartment the day \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tbefore. The two girls are presumed to be Rroma, the information office of the \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tpolice stated. Furthermore, it is supposed to be organised crime: <em>\u201eThe girls were controlled before. \u201cThey \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tappeared to be suspicious\u201d, criminal inspector Peter Gill stated. The girls \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\twere not only wearing tools for burglary, but also stolen goods \u2013 among it \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tjewellery, money and watches. [&#8230;] The identity of the adolescents is being \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tinvestigated at the moment \u2013 the girls couldn\u2019t identify themselves. The police \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tsupposes that the burglars are from Eastern Europe and have entered Switzerland \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tthrough France. It cannot be excluded that the girls are Rroma. However, it is \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\testablished that they were sent, Gill stated. Therefore, it is supposed that \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tthe young thieves either belong to an organised gang or were sent by their \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tparents.\u201d <\/em>The mentioning of the ethnicity of the perpetrators is not necessary, \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tas it only encourages racist stereotypes about a culture of crime among the \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tRroma. However, Rroma are not more criminal than other ethnic groups, rather, \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tthis is suggested by the media through the explicit thematisation of the Rroma \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tin connection with offenses. Whether the criminals were in fact Rroma is not assured. \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tIt is rather an expression of suspicion, based on prejudices. Rroma are not \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\torganized in hierarchical clans, as it is often claimed, but are structured \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tlargely egalitarian.
