The  \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tfoundation presented the results of their five-year study on the coverage of  \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tRroma in the Swiss German print media. The conclusion is dismal: The  \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\trepresentation of the minority is almost entirely negative, whereby the  \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tdifferent newspapers (NZZ, Blick,  \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t20 Minuten, Tages-Anzeiger, Beobachter, Weltwoche, Wochenzeitung (WOZ)) only minimally differ  \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tin their one-sided view of the Rroma. H\u00fcrlimann comments: <em style=\"font-family: Arial;\">\u201cAccording to the study, the yet very different eight newspapers only differ  \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tin shades regarding the stereotyped, negative image of Roma.<\/em> <em style=\"font-family: Arial;\">This essentially conveys the message that most  \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tRoma are poor, uneducated, criminal, poorly integrated and live in archaic-patriarchal  \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tclan structures. St\u00e9phane Laederich does not deny that there are such Roma,  \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\talso in this country.<\/em> <em style=\"font-family: Arial;\">However, he  \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tstresses that the vast majority of Roma live unobtrusively and well integrated  \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tin Switzerland \u2013 but barley dare to out themselvers because of the widespread,  \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tone-sided views of the minority. [&#8230;] The Roma Foundation suggests that about  \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t80,000 Roma live in Switzerland. If one outs oneself as Rom or Romni, one is immediately  \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tasked whether one can read and write or at least dance, St\u00e9phane Laederich states:  \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\u201cWould one report about other minorities as one does about the Roma? And  \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tdoesn\u2019t history teach us, where such prejudice can lead to, how dangerous they  \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tare?<\/em>, <em style=\"font-family: Arial;\">the director points out.\u201d <\/em>The  \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tmajority of Rroma are integrated are discriminated against by this one-sided  \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\treporting and are continuously confronted unjustly with massive prejudices. These  \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tmisrepresentations, which amounts to intellectual arson, is important to be critically  \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tquestioned and replaced with a balanced, differentiated journalism that fulfils  \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tits responsibility of a realistic representation of the world.
