A local court decided it. Around 100 people had \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tsettled on a community plot that, among other things, encompasses a dilapidated \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tbuilding. In this unoccupied house and around the building, the immigrants settled \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tdown on June 12th. Functioning sanitary facilities were not \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tavailable. Several of the children are enrolled in local schools. Their future \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\teducation is now being threatened: <em style=\"font-family: Arial;\">\u201cThey \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\thave the right to three months extension on the site\u201d, adds Myriam Leroux, of \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tthe association \u201cEssonnian solidarity for the Roma and Romanian families\u201d \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t(ASEFRR), a member of the collective Romeurope. She is accompanying them since \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\ttheir expulsion from the neighbouring department of Essonne. \u201cThey are all rag \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tpickers. They sell at the flea markets of Montreuil on Saturday, Sunday and \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tMonday. Otherwise, they live by begging. The women makes 5 to 10 Euros a day. What \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tto eat from. They are also enrolled in the Restos du Coeur [a French soup \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tkitchen]\u201d, she says. And afterwards, where will they go? \u201cFor them it is the \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tsystem-D [self-help]!\u201d <\/em>It should be stressed that forced evictions of \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tinformal settlements complicate a long-term integration of the Rroma \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\timmigrants. Due to the expulsions, the problems and the integration question \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tare simply moved from one location to the next, but not solved. Also, due to \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tthe media\u2019s and aid organisations\u2019 focus on informal settlements, one suggests \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tthat Rroma are exclusively belonging to the lower class and are poorly \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\teducated. According to estimates of the Rroma Foundation, 100,000 to 500,000 \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tRroma are integrated and live unobtrusively in French society. They are \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tcompletely hidden from the French public. The recently immigrated Rroma from \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tEastern Europe constitute only a small portion of all Rroma residents in France \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t(compare Bordier 2014).<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Bordier, Sophie (2014) Les Roms devront quitter leur bidonville avant le 8 \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\td\u00e9cembre.
