The forced \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tevictions of illegal Rroma settlements continues in France. Berg\u00e8s (2013) reports \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\ton the upcoming evacuation of the largest Rroma camp in Lille. Berg\u00e8s, using \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\ttestimonies criticises the fact that the evacuation are actually more a \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\thindrance on a long-term integration, \u00a0and that steps taken towards to building one\u2019s own life are \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tthereby made massively difficult or even utterly destroyed. Quite a few of the \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tFrench politicians, \u00a0also some from \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tthe left, do not in fact want that immigrant Rroma become part of the French \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tsociety: they propagate the view of the incompatibility of the Rroma culture of \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\twith French values and are disturbed by the slums in the suburbs of French \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tcities. However, it is often the residents of the settlements close to the \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tcamps that are bothered by the sight of poverty and misery and ask for evictions \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tto take place. Due to the many evictions in recent months, the social problems have \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tnot been solved, but simply shifted towards more and more homeless living in \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tlarge cities such as Paris.<\/p>\n
