The reportage, awarded \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\twith the citizens media award of Saxony-Anhalt, reports about Rroma in Transylvania. \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tIt paints a sympathetic, but unfortunately also very normative view of the \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tRroma in Romania. The commentator states at the beginning of the reportage that \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tthe helpers of the association \u201cChildren\u2019s Aid for Transylvania\u201d would come to \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tknow the life and culture of the Rroma in a Rroma settlement. The fact that \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tthey confuse culture and a lifestyle resulting out of exclusion, is not \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tdiscussed critically. Like many other reports in Germany, the coverage \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\treproduces the idea of Rroma as victims in their countries of origin, but \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tremains silent about well-integrated, invisible Rroma, who do not conform to \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tthe stereotypes. In addition, the discrimination against the minority in \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tGermany is left out, where they are often portrayed as perpetrators. Instead, it \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tis repeatedly referred to the fertility of the aid project, without giving the \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tRroma themselves a real voice. Therewith the aid project is staged as a success, \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tbut the person concerned appear as uncivilized that were in need of civilizing \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tthrough the project: \u201cWhen I think of the \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tstarting time, with the turbulence and unrest, and no values and norms within \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tthis group of the children of the centre, and now this development […] earlier \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tcommunication was brute force, there were beatings\u201d, <\/em>the project manager Sebastian Leiter states biased. In contrast, the film \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\talso provides intelligent viewpoints as the views of the social workers Thomas \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tRichardt, which emphasizes the importance of contact between the Rroma and \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tGadje and stresses that a society is only as good as it treats its weakest \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tmembers. \u2013 The report shows once again that good intentions alone are not \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tsufficient to convey a differentiated picture of the Rroma (compare Kinderhilfe f\u00fcr Siebenb\u00fcrgen e.V 2014, Berliner \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tZeitung 2014, Focus 2014).<\/p>\n
