The article \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tabout the alleged Rroma children in the world Week 44 \/2013 is both factually \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tand in its argumentation on a weak foundation:<\/p>\n

It is based \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\ton a report of the Association of Towns published in 2011, the Bern Police \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tspokesman Alexander Ott and various cantonal police forces. A bit thin an \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\targumentation to generalise the given examples to an entire ethnic group and \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tthus to actually defame it. The quoted anonymous sources from police sources \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tmake things even worse, as they suggest at best a form of conspiracy theory.<\/p>\n

A true proof \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tto the core message is not presented here. \u00a0The individual case described about a Rromni who rented a \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tchild for 250.- euro may be true. But to take the tragedy of this story for the \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tthesis of existing organized gangs can only be regarded as journalistically and \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tscientifically untenable.<\/p>\n

Any \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tcounter-arguments to the thesis of the Weltwoche are completely ignored: For \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\texample, the study of professors Tabin and Kn\u00fcsel showing that beggars earn less \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tthan 20.\u2014CHF per day in Lausanne is not mentioned here. In addition, beggars \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\torganizations are actually a legend from the Middle Ages. No word about this \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\teither.<\/p>\n

But the \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tarticle dwells on the prostitution of underage Rroma boys. There is no mention \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tthat their customers are actually committing a criminal offence. Victims are \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tmade to be perpetrators, and the fate of innocent children is criminalised.<\/p>\n

On cannot \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tcondone the generalizations about criminal Rroma, exploited by clans and \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\ttribes. The Weltwoche may have good reasons to write against the EU and the \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tSchengen agreements, but we ask them not to build their argument on prejudice \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tagainst an entire ethnic group. Maybe this paper should replace the term Rroma \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\twith the name of a different ethnic group and ask themselves if they could still \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tpublish it.<\/p>\n
