The right-wing Workers&#8217; Party (DSSS) succeeded increasingly in \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tmobilising apolitical citizens against the Rroma. One of the grievances causing \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tthe frictions are real estate speculators who buy up town homes and flats \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tcheaply, and then rent them to Rroma and who take social funds from them: <em>\u201cThe city no longer rents apartment because \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tof Rroma, instead they sell &#8211; often at bargain prices &#8211; their real estate to \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tbusinesses, without any conditions on usage. The carve-up the spaces with \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tpartitions into smaller units. Their Clientele: socially deprived Roma, who \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\thave no work and are undesirable elsewhere. In order for them to get any social \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tassistance and housing benefits, the landlord must confirm them a permanent \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\taddress. That&#8217;s what he loves to do. Rents equivalent to 400 \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\teuro and more for residential units, which sometimes do not even have a \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tbathroom\u201d<\/em> R\u00fcmkorf\u2019s article shows once again that a poverty issues is made \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tto be an ethnic problem r. The residents of Josefov should not demonstrate \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tagainst Rroma, but against poverty and against exclusion.
