Michels (2014) reports \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\ton the project of the German F\u00f6rderverein \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tRoma, who \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\twants to settle immigrant Rroma families on the former campus of Bockenheim: \u201c15 percent of the residential land at the \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tcurrent campus that the university wants to have vacated by 2017, are meant for \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\thousing associations. A total of 1\u2019200 dwellings are planned to be built. Until \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tthe end of January, 21 initiatives for community living have submitted their \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tapplications to the land-owner ABG holding. The largest of these, the \u201cWohngruppe \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tPhilosophicum\u201c, supports the initiative \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tfor Roma families.\u201d <\/em>The head of the F\u00f6rderverein Roma, Joachim Brenner, is hoping that through the \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tfinancial support of foundations and the EU and with a convincing concept, he \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\twill be awarded the contract.<\/p>\n

[…] The \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tcity administration is also sceptical. So many people \u201cwith complex problems\u201d \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tto focus on a small space does not correspond with the line of thoughts of the \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tFrankfurt social administration, said the spokeswoman of social department head \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tDaniela Birkenfeld (CDU).\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Voigt (2014) reports on \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\ta housing project for Rroma in Berlin-Neuk\u00f6lln, for which the\u00a0 Frankfurt integration board has now \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tshown interest. In the Harzer Strasse in Neuk\u00f6lln, a non-profit housing company \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tbought neglected apartment buildings and renovated them for immigrant Rroma \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tfamilies. In Frankfurt, the Berlin social worker Daniel Ibrahimovic reported on \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tthe chronology of the project: \u201cThe \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tneighbours were curious and came by more often. Then the project proved to be positively \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tdeveloping. \u201cSlowly but surely people realize that Roma are not another \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tspecies\u201d, said Ibrahimovic, who belongs to the minority himself. Gradually you \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\thave shown the people, \u201cthat these are also humans.\u201d\u201d <\/em>Ideas about cultural \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\talterity and incompatibility hold themselves persistently in the politicized \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tdebate. That these are primarily poverty issues that are hyped up to cultural \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tdifferences, is not discussed.<\/p>\n
