The  \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tpublication is based on research that was conducted between 2011 and 2013 in  \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tthe streets of Lausanne. Tabin and his team studied who begs, who gives and how  \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tbeggars live. He qualifies clich\u00e9d ideas that one earns a lot of money with begging,  \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tas well as stereotypes about Rroma, who are not automatically parts of  \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\torganized begging networks. In the public discourse begging is often deemed a  \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tcrime that needs to be punished.
