Several French \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tnewspapers report on the fate of a group of displaced Rroma in Roncq. They were \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\texpelled last week from their accommodation without having been offered any \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\talternative place to stay. Some families settled on the site of the church Notre-Dame-des-Victoires.<\/em> The diocese of Lille has \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tnow announced that it does not possess the means and possibilities to \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\taccommodate the Rroma in reasonable terms: \u201cThe \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tchurch has neither the necessary human nor the financial resources to find long-term, \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tstable solutions for these families\u201d, said the archdiocese in a press release. \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\u201cThat does not mean that we are indifferent to their fate! We have a team that \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tcould accompany the families.\u201d \u201cWe cannot protect them. It is not an absence of \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tcharity (…) One seeks solutions for land and one doesn\u2019t have any\u201d the \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tarchbishop of Lille announced.\u201d<\/em> According to local Rroma organizations, the \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\teviction of 700 to 800 Rroma in Lille is planned for July, following a court\u2019s \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tdecision. Likely, there will be no alternative accommodation provided to them either. \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tAround twenty Rroma, who settled near the church, can pitch their tents on a \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tprivate estate in Haubourdin, through the mediation of ATD Fourth World. \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tAnother twenty have joined other illegal settlements in Lille (compare Bela\u00efd 2014, France 3 Nord Pas-de-Calais 2014 \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tI\/II, Le Monde 2014, Le Parisien 2014, La Voix du Nord 2014 I\/II).\u00a0<\/p>\n
