He portrays various projects in Pristina and the suburbs \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tthat were co-sponsored by returning or remaining Rroma. In the Serbian \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tmunicipality of Gracanica they run a hotel, which was co-sponsored by a Swiss \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tofficial. Nrecaj, a Rrom, wanted to set up small libraries in all public \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tschools to improve children\u2019s education skills. However, the Kosovo authorities \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tshowed no interest in his project. Andreas Worms, an official who assessed the \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\treturn of Kosovo exiles in late 1999 on behalf of the Swiss Federal Government \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tand some aid agencies, confirms the difficulties of reintegration. Not \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tinfrequently, the houses of the Rroma were destroyed in Serbian minority areas: \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\u00a0<em style=\"font-family: Arial;\">\u201cWormser had to assess the reasonableness of a return in the event of asylum \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tapplications. The current situation of the minority was often delicate: their \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\thomes in Serbian villages were destroyed and in the Albanian settlement area \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tthey were seen as collaborators with the Serbs and had to fear for their lives.\u201d<\/em> Woker\u2019s conclusion is that the situation for the Rroma in Kosovo is still \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tunsatisfactory. The conflicts from spring 2004 encouraged many in the decision \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tto seek their luck abroad. From originally around 200\u2019000 Rroma today about 50\u2019000 \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tremain in the Kosovo. Despite efforts by organizations such as \u00a0\u201cVoice of Roma\u201d, who work for better \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\teducational qualifications among the Rroma, there remain strong tensions \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tbetween the two other ethnic groups in the country: the Kosovar Albanians who \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tmake up the majority of the population and the Kosovo Serbs, who constitute the \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tsecond largest group.
