The Central Council of \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tGerman Sinti and Rroma demands an apology from the government of \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tBaden-W\u00fcrttemberg due to racist investigations in connection with the murders \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tof the National Socialist underground (NSU), and the establishment of an \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tinvestigation committee because of intra-police racism. On the occasion of the \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\ttrial against Nazi perpetrators who had committed several racist murders, the \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tchairman of the Central Council, Romani Rose, demanded a concession from the \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tgovernment: \u201cRose said on Wednesday in \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tMunich, that especially in the case of the murdered Heilbronn police officer \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tMich\u00e8le Kiesewetter, there has been a \u201cgeneral suspicion\u201d against Sinti and \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tRoma. He expected at least an apology by the state government of Stuttgart and \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tan assurance that such events never happen again. \u201cIt is constitutionally inacceptable \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tto put an entire ethnic group under suspicion\u201d, said Rose\u201d (Focus online 2014). \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\u201cIn July 2009, three detectives travelled to Serbia and surveyed a Roma man. \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t[…] The psychologists pointed out that man was \u201ca typical representative of \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\this ethnicity.\u201d That means, lying was an essential part of his socialization. \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tThe man \u201cobviously grew up in a world of lies and deception since his earliest \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tchildhood.\u201d The racist remarks about the witness, and the Roma in general, were \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tadopted by the state police without a distancing statement into the \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tinvestigation files\u201d (Tagesspiegel 2014).<\/em> The case against the \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tNSU-murderers is therefore indirectly also a lawsuit against institutional \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tracism in the German police (compare Die Welt 2014, Stuttgarter Zeitung 2014, \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tS\u00fcdwestpresse 2014).<\/p>\n
