She portrays the famous image of marginalized Rroma below \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tthe poverty level, for which the conditions in Germany represent a major development \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tstep, even if it is only by receiving a minimum wage. Thereby, she characterizes \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\ta fairly accurate picture of the economic causes of migration, but mixes these \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\ttoo imprudently with ascribed characteristics of the Rroma. Although she also mentions \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tthe large proportion of well-qualified immigrants and the discrimination against \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tRroma in Germany itself, she only covers these issues very marginally. The \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\treductionist, defamatory statements of the Bulgarian deputy prime minister, \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tZinaida Zlatanova, are cited as evidence for the strong marginalization of the \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tRroma in Bulgaria, what is identified by Peters as the main reason for the northern \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tmigration of the minority: <em style=\"font-family: Arial;\">\u201cBulgaria is \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\thome to many different ethnic groups. We have problems only with Roma\u201d, says \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tZlatanova. \u201cAnd these problems exist in every country that is home to Roma. \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tThis is not a Bulgarian problem. In France, Hungary \u2013 the same.\u201d The exclusion \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tof Roma children in ghettos and their own schools? \u201cWe should not tear the \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tRroma from their natural environment. Better they go to segregated schools than \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tnever.\u201d <\/em>Whether Germany benefits from identifying the phenomenon \u201cpoverty \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tmigration\u201d as a \u201cRroma problem\u201d, is very questionable. Also in Germany the \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tRroma are exposed top exclusion. The exclusion of the Rroma must not be concealed \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tthat is out of question. However, the marking of migrants as Rroma migrants \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tcreates more problems than it solves. The Rroma want to integrate and not undergo \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tspecial treatment, which excludes them additionally. This only creates new \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tresentments, as can be read in Peters\u2019 own assessment: <em style=\"font-family: Arial;\">\u201cWe must take care of the Roma, who come to us\u201d, says Giffey \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t[councillor for education in Neuk\u00f6lln].
