The documentation centre is the result of \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tshared aspirations of the local mayor&#8217;s office and resident Rroma. The aim of \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tthe institution is to remind students and the public about the much-neglected \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tgenocide of the Rroma during the Second World War. Due to the largely oral \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\ttraditions among the Rroma, the genocide is far from well documented. The estimated \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tdeath toll rage from 220,000 to one and a half million dead: <em style=\"font-family: Arial;\">\u201eWest Germany recognized the Roma Holocaust \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tin 1982, but formal recognition and marking of this Holocaust have generally \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tproven to be difficult due to lack of recorded collective memory and \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tdocumentation of the Porajmos among the Roma, a consequence both of their oral \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\ttraditions and illiteracy, heightened by widespread poverty and discrimination \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tin this day and age [&#8230;].\u201c<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Radisic, Danica (2014) Rare Roma Holocaust Documentation Center to Open \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tin Hungary.
