The goal of wanting to provide students with \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tinformation about the lives of Rroma is laudable. Unfortunately, when reading \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tthe text one gets the impression that students were taught in positive \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tstereotypes, rather than ask to think about issues such as stereotypes and \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\texclusion: <em style=\"font-family: Arial;\">\u201cWithin their classes they travelled \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tto the memorial at the Otto-Rosenberg-Platz in Marzahn, where a Nazi labour \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tcamp for Roma and Sinti was located during 1936-43. The musicians Janko Lauenberger \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tand Wilfried Ansin came to visit and told the students of the world of gypsy-swing, \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tand together with Susanne Meier they sang Roma songs.\u201d<\/em> Prejudice against an \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tethnic group are one thing, but one should be very careful what and how to \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tteach about an ethnic minority. With the replacement of negative stereotypes with \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tpositive ones, one doesn\u2019t help Rroma in their integration efforts. That the \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tlessons described confirmed misconceptions of patriarchal structures and \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tentrenched traditions can be seen in the response of an eleven year old \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tstudent: <em style=\"font-family: Arial;\">\u201cI don\u2019t like that the boys have \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tmore rights and that the girls and women always have to wear skirts.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Koepping, Elke (2014) Roma heisst Mensch.
