The focus are children of families who \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\thave no fixed residence because they are living in illegal settlements. Through \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tthe strong promotion of French language skills, they are supposed to be \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tsuccessfully integrated into the French school system. To this end, they visit \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tintensive courses of up to eighteen hours of French a week, with other \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tforeign-language children: <em style=\"font-family: Arial;\">\u201cThe French \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tschool system is arranged to include foreign-language children. There are \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tspecial French courses and also welcoming classes at secondary schools for \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tchildren who have never been to school. Up to 18 hours of French per week, plus \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tone hour of each of math, music, art and sports together with French students. \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tThe further integration into the lessons should then be individualized, \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tdepending on the language level of the students. Most of the students are \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tchildren of immigrants from former French colonies \u2013 Algeria, Cambodia or Mali \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\u2013 only about a third are Roma, says Andrea R\u00f6lke. The citizen of Hamburg is a \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tFrench teacher at the Coll\u00e8ge Gabriel Rossetti where she supervises the lessons \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tfor non-native speakers.\u201d<\/em> However, a major problem remains the uncertain \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tresidence and living status of families from informal settlements. The \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tcontinuous struggle to provide enough food and money degrades the importance of \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\teducation. The ongoing evictions of settlements make it difficult or impossible \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tto continuously attend a school at same place. Moritz emphasizes at the \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tbeginning of the article that the majority of the approximately 400,000 Rroma in \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tFrance are integrated. The slum dwellers are therefore a minority of the minority. \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tThis is an important reference. However, it doesn\u2019t really change anything \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tabout the problem of the continuing expulsion policy towards immigrant Rroma. \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tMost of the immigration children will not attend a college, according to the \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tfindings of the school project.
