The European Court of \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tJustice condemned the separate enrolment of Rroma \u00a0children as \u201cethnic exclusion\u201d which goes against the \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tprohibition of discrimination. The schools of the city Sofades have to pay the \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tplaintiff 1,000 euro per family in damages. Whether this condemnation will \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tchange something \u00a0to the effective \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tpractice of segregated schools is questionable. 123recht.net (2013) states \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tcurtly: <em style=\"font-family: Arial; \">\u201cAccording to the European \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tConvention on Human Rights, signatory States must implement the judgments of \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tthe Strasbourg Court. Often, condemned countries simply pay the penalties \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\twithout eliminating the abuses.\u201d <\/em>In Sofades there are four public schools, \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tthree of which are reserved to ethnic Greeks according to current practice.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Jezerca Tigani, Deputy \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tDirector of Amnesty International\u2019s Europe and Central Asia criticising the \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tGreek government for its inability to respect European court decisions, of \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\twhich there are now already three, to repeal the segregation of Rroma children. \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tIn a statement, he proposes that the EU should use all available legal and \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tpolitical means to force Greece to comply with the anti-racism provisions.
