{"id":20111,"date":"2023-04-16T07:55:27","date_gmt":"2023-04-16T06:55:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/rroma.org\/?p=20111"},"modified":"2023-04-16T07:55:27","modified_gmt":"2023-04-16T06:55:27","slug":"child-marriages","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rroma.org\/fr\/child-marriages\/","title":{"rendered":"Child Marriages"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Serbia is working on an initiative to amend family law to define and recognize child marriage as a form of human trafficking, as 22-50% of Serbian Romane girls are married before the age of 18 years old.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A recent UNICEF report revealed that more than half of girls from Roma settlements in Serbia and 22% of girls from low-income families marry before the age of 18. Even more worryingly, 16% of Roma girls marry before the age of 15 and 5% give birth at this age.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As usual, take these percentages with a pinch of salt.
