{"id":29372,"date":"2025-08-11T12:58:57","date_gmt":"2025-08-11T11:58:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/rroma.org\/?p=29372"},"modified":"2025-08-11T12:58:57","modified_gmt":"2025-08-11T11:58:57","slug":"an-omission","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rroma.org\/fr\/an-omission\/","title":{"rendered":"An Omission?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">During the August 2<sup>nd<\/sup> commemoration of the genocide of the Roma during the Holocaust in Auschwitz, Romani Rose, chairman of the Central Council of German Sinti and Roma gave a speech in German in which he not only spoke about the genocide of the Roma but also of human right violations, and he specifically mentioned children starving in Gaza.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The issue: the Gaza mention was not translated in English, Polish, or Czech according to the people we spoke to right after the ceremony in Auschwitz.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Why did interpreters of Auschwitz ceremony on 2 August fail to say the word &#8220;Gaza&#8221; when the chair of the Central Council of German Sinti and Roma raised starvation there?
