There was consensus on the need for a memorial, but disagreement on the location, with some council members finding the chosen site inadequate.

The proposal was supported by multiple political parties, while the CDU suggested an alternative name and location for the memorial.

The gathering honored the memory of the victims of the concentration camp for Roma and Sinti that was established in Lety in 1942.
