										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p style="font-weight: 400;">According to recently published numbers, the number of “Gypsy or Travellers” enrolled in univeristies in the UK increased from 105 in 2019/2020 to 2’535 in 2023/2024. Apparently, the increase is mostly due to Roma students.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p style="font-weight: 400;">The Institute of Romology Studies at the Faculty of Social Sciences and Health of the University of Constantine the Philosopher in Nitra is closing down after 35 years. At the end of June, the proposal of the Dean of the Faculty, Tomáš Sollár, was approved by the Academic Senate.</p>
<p style="font-weight: 400;">The restructuring of the institute is to create a department of social work for Roma communities at the Department of Social Work and Social Sciences. This also includes personnel cuts – from the original three assistant professors and one associate professor, only two assistant professors will remain in the new department.</p>
<p style="font-weight: 400;">Says a lot about priorities …</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p style="font-weight: 400;">Teachers and students of Matej Bel University symbolically buried the code of ethics in protest against the speech of MEP Milan Mazurek at the university. &#8220;Dear mourners, on Thursday, March 20, the spirit of the code of ethics of Matej Bel University died.</p>
<p style="font-weight: 400;">Milan Mazurek, of the Republic Party (formerly “Our Slovakia”) is an extreme right politician who was condemned for racism against Roma in 2018, a decision upheld by the supreme court in 2019. Hew said in a speech: &#8220;The Gypsy anti-socials have never done anything for the nation and never will&#8221;.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p style="font-weight: 400;">At La Sapienza University of Rome, the course &#8220;Romani Language and Culture&#8221; will begin on March 5th. It aims to offer a complete overview of the language, traditions and history of the Romani population with a multidisciplinary approach that combines theory, practice and critical reflection. The course is aimed at students of humanities, social sciences and history, but also at anyone who wishes to deepen their knowledge of Romani culture and its current challenges, as well as all those who work in the field of cultural mediation, human rights and social inclusion.</p>
