ORF (2013) reports on the construction of a thirty meters long and three meters high wall to separate parts of the district “Lunik IX”, where ca. 6000 Rroma live from the rest of the city. The construction of the wall is the result of complaints by local residents who are angry about “noise, dirt and damage to parked cars”. The construction of the wall has resulted in various places and people expressing their disbelief, but this measure is by no means an isolated event, it is rather one of a variety of structural measures whereby the majority of the population tries to segregate themselves from the Rroma.
