Paris: The Camp on the Petite Ceinture is Dismantled

Published by:

The Rroma camp on the old tracks of the “Petite Ceinture” railway with close to roughly 400 inhabitants has been cleared yesterday. It was, according to the press the “largest” remaining camp near Paris.

One cannot but wonder that so few people attract so much attention, and that for such a small number of people, a more dignified solution could not be found earlier…

Switzerland … Oh well …

Published by:

One of the really least researched, most populist articles in the Swiss press in a long time. Low concentration of facts and logic, high populist overtones.

Not acceptable. And by the way, the results of the study (see second article) are not acceptable either.

PROTEST!

Sweden: Beggars …

Published by:

The Swedish government is telling its citizen not to give any money to beggars, who, anyhow apparently are mostly Romanian and Bulgarian…

No comments, apart that there are better ways to solve the problem.

SHAME!!!!

An initiative by the government of Hessen aims at teaching children about Sinti and Rroma in Germany, and the overall role of discrimination and the need to fight against segregation.

Good!

“Foreign” Travellers in Switzerland

Published by:

An article on foreign (i.e. Rroma) travellers in Swotzerland. These are often described as dirty by the local travellers (Jenische) and by the press and accused of leaving a mess behind when they leave their camps. This study is somewhat more differentiated!

Italy: Informing on the Holocaust

Published by:

A series of articles was published in Italy in the context of the remembrance day of the Holocaust on the 27th of January, explaining that Rroma were also singled out by the Nazis during World War Two. This is not well known in Italy, so GOOD!
