In view of the mounting evidence of discrimination against Rroma in Hungary, Canada is accepting more asylum applications from Hungarian Rroma.

According to German sources, as many as 200’000 asylum seekers from Serbia will be asked to leave Germany very soon. Already 24’000 have been told to leave. Two third of theses refugees are most probably Rroma.
Rroma whose houses were destroyed in Varna have been arrested by the police, and the mayor declared that people who had built houses illegally are not entitles to a social housing alternative. In brief, they have been driven to the street.

The UK press and of course also the Slovak are having a field day after a Rroma gang who had been trafficking young Rroam women from Slovakia to the UK was condemned.
Once again, the deed of a few Rroma is taken as a sign that the entire minority is in fact criminal. This is surely not the case, but is always presented as such in the Press.
5 Mio EUR were spent in Hungary (via the Roma Autonomy) in training 1’000 babysitters, something that is thought to be worth 250’000 EUR. This exemplifies how NOT to do Rroma projects.
New developments in Poland. A Rroma camp in Wroclaw was demolished. No alternatives were provided, and some of the residents lost all their belongings. A SHAME!
The Serbian government stopped the eviction of 53 families in the Rroma settlement of Grmeč (Zemun)
There was a clash between police and Rroma in a Rroma settlement near Kosice in the East of the country. The police claims they were attacked by around 200 Rroma. The Rroma version is of course different. They say the police beat up a man sleeping outside. The truth will never fully be known, but the track record of the Police in Slovakia is bad.
Bulgaria is continuing its policy of demolition of “illegal” Rroma houses. This time, it is in Varna. There has to be a better solution!
Based on a complaint of Rroma residents in Bulgaria against the placement of electricity meters (several metres above ground), the ruling on indirect discrimination from the European Court of Justice has a wide impact. An overview of the impact!
Romanian Police is patrolling Paris to “protect” against the “Rroma criminality”. Officially, this is to have people speaking Romanian. But the Romanian police has a very bad track record of racism against Rroma…

Officials from the Croatian city of Vukovar have been filmed singing a fascist Ustaša song. The Croatian fascist regime killed Jews and nearly all the Rroma in Croatia (yes, almost all!).
This is definitively not acceptable!
A court in the Czech Republic condemned a real estate agent to apologise to a Rromni after having denied her a rental based on her ethnicity.

Another festival in Slovakia, in Banska Bystrica and Zvolen: The festival people from the house of Roma. This year, the festival focuses on the young generation with several workshops for youngsters from different countries.
Canadian immigration officials are screening passengers departing to Canada at the Budapest airport, and deny entry to anyone presumed to be Rrom.
This is definitively not acceptable!
Romanians are generally not prone at wanted to be identified as Rroma… Or so it seems, except when it allows them to have an easier way into high school, as a case in Romania shows.
Some populists miss no occasion to be populist, prejudiced, racist, and spread idiotic information. This is the case here with Breitbart, a conservative US based news Network. Based on a fight between two Romanian Rroma families in Essen Germany, and the fact that a German newspaper also cited “Arabs” and criminals in the report, Breitbart makes a headline of criminal Gypsy and Arab gangs.
One should say STOP RACISM and START THINKING! This is not journalism, this is actual idiocy. It has to stop.
A street fight in Essen between two Rroma groups – probably from Romania, degenerated into a real street battle involving up to over 1’000 people according to police source. Thses fights continued later on.
This has given opportunity to several papers to equate all Rroma with criminal and to “throw in” an ounce of “criminal Arabs” into the fray to give a view that all migrants are surely criminals and that one needs to get rid to them.
Let’s call this by it’s name: This is POPULISM and RACISM.
Around 40 Rroma from Romania and Bulgaria are currently camping the castle’s park. This is common in France, with the illegal camps, but is definitively new in Germany. To be watched.
In Crimea and in the Dombass (where the new autonomous region is being carved out), human rights for minorities, for Tatars and Rroma, but also for LGBT and religious minorities are under threat. There is an increased discrimination against them, something we can testify for the Rroma in that region.
