One of the suspects of the Kiev attack against a Roma camp has been put under house arrest. Seems a bit on the “light” side…

Guess who is taking charge of the Roma integration in Odessa in the Ukraine… The police.
The head of the Department of Juvenile Prevention of the Odessa City Police Department, Colonel of Police Vitaliy Kapulyak, spoke with the head of the Romani congress, with whom he discussed ways of overcoming the problems related to violations of the legislation and minor offences by young Roma.
Well, this won’t really work, won’t it?

A kindergarten burnt down in Mukachevo in Western Ukraine. The police is investigating and suspects arson.

The president of the ultra nationalist Ukrainian C14, Eugene Karas missed a good opportunity to shut up. In an interview with Glavkom, he described how, according to him, in Ukraine it is possible to “socialize” Roma and described how his group “polices” the streets of Ukrainian cities.
As a reminder – C14 was behind the attack in Kiev against a Roma camp.

Finally, a suspect was named in the case of the destruction of the Roma camp in Kiev in April. It is Sergei Mazur, the coordinator of C14, an ultra-nationalist organisation.

A permanent working group was set up in Ukraine to deal with the integration and protection of Roma rights. According to the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the working group includes representatives of the National Police, the State Migration Service, the National Academy of Internal Affairs, the Council of Europe Office in Ukraine, the Ministry of Social Policy, the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Culture, the SBU, the KSCA, as well as Roma NGOs.

A view on the far-right movements and Roma in the Ukraine. Attacks against Roma are mostly done in total impunity. And this has to change.

The first audition of the perpetrators of the attack on a Roma camp that left one man dead took place yesterday behind closed doors in Lviv. The public was not allowed as some of the attackers are underage.

A Romni was killed in the Transcarpathian region of the Ukraine. Roma say that unidentified attackers slit her throat. Ukrainian Press (see next post) mentions a family feud.
