In the first 6 months of this year, already more than 100 schoolchildren have been deported from the Hamburg region alone. This is mostly the result of the “safe countries” policy of Germany, a policy which affects mostly Rroma from the Balkan.

The case brought against the extreme-rightist party NPD in Germany about their poster “Geld für die Oma, anstatt für Sinti und Roma” [Money for grandma instead of for Sinti and Roma] has been dismissed. The prosecutor said there was nothing racist or inciting racial hatred in that poster (Really). The Central Council of Sionti and Roma is appalled and actually said that with the prosecutor’s logic, one literally could say “Don’t buy from Jews” and this would not be racist. Or would it be?

A theatre initiative in Augsburg organises visit of the “Fischerholz” neighbourhood, a place where Sinti and Rroma lived in the early 50’s. Stories and history will be presented during the tours.

The Rroma occupying the Regensburg Cathedral have moved to the parish house of St. Emmeran in Bavaria. According to the refugees, the church was very forthcoming g in helping them.
Meanwhile, there is another article bemoaning the involvement of Antifa (Anti-Fascist Movement) behind the occupation of the cathedral. Adds nothing to the facts, and is just there to discredit the cause that these Rroma are fighting for.
A long article in die Welt on the Rroma occupying the Regensburger Cathedral to prosets against their eventual expulsion back to the Balkan, as Germany has declared most countries there as being “safe”. This article asks whether the Rroma have aligned themselves with the Antifa (Anti Fascist Movement) whom die Welt portrays as radical in asylum questions.
Around 40 Rroma are currently occupying the cathedral of Regensburgas a protest against Germany’s declaration of all Balkan countries as being safe, which of course, in many case they are not for Rroma. They are fighting a wave of depurations. One article is neutral, but the article of Breitbart is totally extreme rightist. Bad.
The Church has asked the police not to intervene. GOOD!
A fight was reported in Lörrach in Southern Germany between football fans and Rroma who lived nearby. Both groups clain the other started. Well, knowing the precedents amongst Football fans, that they would be attacked by Rroma seems a bit far fetched.
Once again, these supporters are not the best breed…
One of the few camping places for travelling Rroma and Sinti in Germany will be closed. The Roma and Cinti Union, who has been running this camp, has been informed they will have to leave it until October.
Further protests in Germany by Rroma in order not to be deported. This is still the continuation of the declaration of several Balkan countries such as Bosnia and Kosovo as being “safe countries” also for minorities such as Rroma.

Demonstrators protested in Germany against the current asylum policies of the German state, who, having declared several Balkan countries as safe countries, are systematically denying asylum claims by Rroma from these countries.

The Hessen Government in Germany wants to protect the graves of persecuted Rroma and Sinti. This follows a move of several other Laender in Germany who insisted that these graves need to be preserved.
Good, and may they rest in peace at last.
It has been 20 years since the project started. There are now more than 60’000 spread all over Germany, remembering victims of the Holocaust and where they lived. They honoured Jews, Rroma, and others who were killed in the Nazi madness.
Let’s remember them all, and well done as a project!
