We have had the first reports of Roma fleeing the war in the Ukraine and arriving in Poland, Hungary, and Slovakia. At this stage it is impossible to say how many, but we are gathering more information.

Experiences of discrimination are still part of everyday life for Sinti and Roma in Germany. The federal government now wants to counteract this grievance with an antitziganism strategy. The appointment of an antiziganism commissioner, as agreed in the coalition agreement, has not yet taken place.
The Central Council of German Sinti and Roma welcomes the national strategy adopted by the Federal Government “Fight antigypsyism, ensure participation!”

More than half of Roma in Serbia do not know their rights or anti-discrimination mechanisms, according to a survey “Roma Perceptions of Discrimination” initiated by the Commissioner for Equality in Serbia and supported by the German NGO GIZ.
Residents are fuming against a Roma settlement in Poznan, fearing for their “safety”, complaining about noise, mess and smoke in the camp on Lechicka Street. The title says “Why do we allow 13-year-olds to get pregnant in the 21st century?”.
