A story on the dream of some Soviet planners to create an ethnic Rroma Republic within the Soviet Union. Not as drastic a plan as the one of the Jewish Republic in one one the coldest Siberian place, but still.

Rroma are being investigated in the death of a Chinese student who was run over by a train while chasing people who had stolen his bag.

An article stating that 87% of the Rroma in Slovakia are at risk of poverty. It is again based on the recent EU survey. And this one states that 87% of the interviewed Rroma in Slovakia are at risk of poverty … Small difference.

An lawsuit for racism was launched against Valls in the European court of Human Rights. Valls, the former French Premier Minister and candidate for the French presidency made several racist comments against Rroma.

The Rroma Spirit Prize was awarded last Saturday in Prague to a journalist, Richard Samko, for his work and aid towards co-existence. Several other people received an award in other categories for their work with and for Rroma.

Let’s call a cat a cat … An interesting article in the French press about camps, all too often associated with Rroma whereas they are simply the result of poverty and lack of access to the housing market. So in effect favelas which are not “part of the Rroma culture” as is all too often portrayed in the Press.

The German Jewish Central Council is calling for more engagement against the AfD, a new German party who is definitively not pro minorities and migrants. Rroma are amongst its targets.

Esma died yesterday at the age of 73. She was born in the Šutka in 1943, and her career
As a musician spaned more than 50 years. She was engaged in Rroma rights, in particular in women rights, and she adopted nearly 50 children in her lifetime.
May she rest in peace. Te ovel o drom angla late puterdo!
