The Rroma civil society launched a petition against the derogatory reporting on Rroma in the Albanian media. Repeatedly, pejorative terms such as “cigan” or “Gabi” were used, which denotes a blatant lack of respect towards Rroma. Despite the centuries-old presence of Rroma in Albania, their holistic integration and acceptance by the majority of society is still not a reality.
