Several ROMEA Fellows are participating in the international educational event Dikh He Na Bister 2025 (“Look and Remember”), which takes place in Poland from July 29 to August 4. The gathering of young people from all over Europe commemorates the genocide of Roma and Sinti during World War II and offers education in human rights and the fight against racism.

An interview with Martin Kanaloš, a Roma author, who grew up in a block of flats in Sokolov, while his classmates lived in houses with gardens. He had Vietnamese friends and is half Roma. Just like his hero in the book Me, Tran and Everything Else.

He also says that the way these people live is not a “Roma culture”, it’s a culture of poverty, referring to the Roma living in settlements.

Yet another article about the lavish Roma wedding in Košice, Slovakia. According to eh article, the viral wedding of rich Roma in Košice caused quite a stir among residents and tourists alike. After the wedding in the Cathedral of St. Elizabeth, to which Charlotka (the bride), Roman (the bridegroom) and other wedding guests walked down the red carpet, a pompous banquet followed. The bride changed into a red dress of Hollywood proportions and later returned with her family to a luxuriously furnished house.
