Rroma whose houses were destroyed in Varna have been arrested by the police, and the mayor declared that people who had built houses illegally are not entitles to a social housing alternative. In brief, they have been driven to the street.

5 Mio EUR were spent in Hungary (via the Roma Autonomy) in training 1’000 babysitters, something that is thought to be worth 250’000 EUR. This exemplifies how NOT to do Rroma projects.
More support for the Rroma of La Courneuve. 37’000 signatures to the petition, and by the Human Right Ombudsman, Jacques Toubon. Nice that Mr. Toubon has progressed, there was a time were he was a bit harsher towards minorities.
New developments in Poland. A Rroma camp in Wroclaw was demolished. No alternatives were provided, and some of the residents lost all their belongings. A SHAME!
The Serbian government stopped the eviction of 53 families in the Rroma settlement of Grmeč (Zemun)
There was a clash between police and Rroma in a Rroma settlement near Kosice in the East of the country. The police claims they were attacked by around 200 Rroma. The Rroma version is of course different. They say the police beat up a man sleeping outside. The truth will never fully be known, but the track record of the Police in Slovakia is bad.
Bulgaria is continuing its policy of demolition of “illegal” Rroma houses. This time, it is in Varna. There has to be a better solution!

Officials from the Croatian city of Vukovar have been filmed singing a fascist Ustaša song. The Croatian fascist regime killed Jews and nearly all the Rroma in Croatia (yes, almost all!).
This is definitively not acceptable!
A fire in a camp in Vaulx en Vélin in the Rhone valley; in Lille, the mayor’s office now wants to find solutions; while in a small village, there is a controversy as to whom installed Rroma on private lands…
A court in the Czech Republic condemned a real estate agent to apologise to a Rromni after having denied her a rental based on her ethnicity.
GOOD, but still a drop of water on a very hot stone. Racism against Rroma is all too common in the Czech Republic.
A lawyer from Luxembourg, Gaston Vogel recently wrote a letter to the municipality protesting against beggars whom he qualified as “disgusting” and “insolent”, regretting that “nobody deals with this scum” (see second article listed below).
A Luxembourg citizen staged a protest action against these comments by symbolically begging in the city as an act of solidarity. Well done!
A French mayor is digging trenches around green spaces in an attempt to prevent Rroma from settling there.
This is NUTS. Maybe he should consider building a wall around his village and loose the key?
Another festival in Slovakia, in Banska Bystrica and Zvolen: The festival people from the house of Roma. This year, the festival focuses on the young generation with several workshops for youngsters from different countries.
