Almost no news this week in France on Roma. Most notable case, the story of the “Gypsy Boxer”, one of the yellow vests protesters who was caught beating up a policeman, who went from “Gitan” as a nickname on the ring to a Rom in the press…
Other than that, protests in Savoy against a planned camp; families who were expulsed recently in Grenoble still have not been given housing; and a insertion village in the North was closed.

Not much this week in the French Press on Roma. An article in Libération investigates the views of the French state on Roma – albeit using itself derogatory terminology. In the North of France, a mayor who made derogatory comments on Roma in 2013 has problems with the justice, and his town is paying for it (yes!). French Chronicle …
Not much this week in France on Roma. A video on their history and origins is probably one of the better ones to circulate in that country, except when they divide Roma into three groups (Sinti/Manouches; Kale; Roma), and that their maps of distributions misses quite a few regions. Oh well, France seems oblivious of history when it comes to Roma.
