Another slow week – actually this is the best news that one can hope. If the trend continues, we will have to discontinue the French chronicle, started at the height of the Valls era. We will keep an eye to see whether this is a real trend or just a lull before the storm.
So what has made the news this week, well, little: In the Lille region in Northern France, the dismantled camps have been re-erected. Real success of the policies … Further news. Four families expulsed from a building belonging to the rail company.

In the afternoon of September 13, Roma families of the Camping River camp decided to return to their homes in Via Tenuta Piccirilli 207, on the Tiberina, in the North of Rome. They were protesting against the illegitimate eviction ordered by Matteo Salvini and Virginia Raggi on July 26, 2018: “we want to guarantee a school and a home for all our children: we cannot live on the streets”.

Unfortunately, more news on Roma this week in France. But it starts well. The French state is condemned for an illegal expulsion near Paris. Also near Paris, a squat will be demolished; in Melun, Roma will have to leave the old hospital in which they have been living for a long time; a club suspends its activities due to the presence of a new Roma camp; and a more positive prize for architecture of social housing for Roma. In Strasbourg, a Rom died electrocuted in a migrant centre. In Angers, in Western France, a squat isn’t sure of its fate.

The German state wants to create an expert commission to analyse and understand the causes of racism against Roma and Sinti.
The Central Council of Sinti and Roma has already said they do not want to be aprt of this commission. We tend to agree with them.
