A really nasty poster was posted on the bus station in Lutsk, Ukraine. The poster urges people not to speak nor help Roma there.
The Roma were forcefully removed from the station a few days ago but seem to have come back.
Another tale of prejudice. Unfortunately common. Less common is that they acknowledged it.

Unfortunately, 20 years after having expelled a large majority of Roma, Kosovo remains Roma averse and racism against the minority is rampant.
In 2016, a Pogrom against Roma took place in Loshchinovka, near Odessa. No Roma were hurt as they had fled prior to the start of the pogrom. The origins of the pogrom was the brutal murder of an 8 year old girl and the fact that a Rom was initially accused of it. This accusation was dropped later.
Roma went to court to protest against the eviction and against the actions of several village officials., including the police which did not do anything to protect the Roma.
They lost – the eviction is apparently “self-government” of the village.
BAD.
What can be done against antigypsyism? The Jewish intellectual Micha Brumlik calls for the fight against it to be anchored in the state constitutions as a goal.
Very few news on Roma this week in France (always a good thing). First, a report on racism against Roma in France and worrying statistics. A theatre play in the South of France. A comic strip on an Ursari family who comes to France. More political, Roma in Ivry, near Paris, are protesting in front of the Prefecture. And finally, a clean-up operation on the site of a former Roma camp near Paris.

The French news this week were overwhelmingly reporting about the issues in Italy where riots erupted after a Roma family was allocated a flat in a social housing. Many articles in the catholic French press on the pope and his intervention, but also about the overall situation of Roma. And otherwise, the beginning of the Ramadan for Moslem Roma and only two news on camps, one in the North, in Wattrelos, and in Grenoble.

In Međimurje, in the north of Croatia, Roma are victims of discriminations and exclusion. Measures rank from not paying social help in cash but rather in coupons, but the exclusion lies in work, in segregated neighbourhoods etc.
